Sempervivum Summer Walk 2026

Gary would like to offer a Sempervivum Summer walk in South Queensferry again, along the shore into the Dalmeny Estate, with a picnic and fire on the beach. It’s been several years since we have done this. It will take place on Sunday 12th July 2026.

We could meet inside the gate of the Longcraig Pier entrance to the Dalmeny Estate.

There’s spaces to park there just before the gate. Follow the road under the rail bridge past the Honey Pot Craft Cafe and keep going.Just past the cottage and the pier there’s a green wooden bench we could meet there at around 1.30. Some people may prefer to drive to the gate, as it makes it a more manageable walk from there to a sandy beach.

The walk is fairly level most of the way and on firm ground. It should take around 30 minutes to arrive at a suitable beach where we can stop for a picnic lunch and maybe have a fire too. Depending on where we choose the last 30 – 50 yards could be down a track through the woods to the beach, though an easier route is also an option. There’s a sandy area for games if the tide is out.

If you prefer not to sit on the ground do bring a portable camping chair and perhaps a bag to gather some kindling wood along the way. For those interested we could end the afternoon with tea at the Honey Pot Craft Cafe, which closes at 5pm.
